Planning an attic insulation project

Photograph the whole route

Include the access hatch, path through the home, roof slopes, eaves, existing insulation and any equipment in the attic. Note approximate dimensions and areas with very limited headroom.

Look before adding material

Water staining, damp material and visible roof defects deserve attention before insulation covers the area. The roof and ventilation arrangement also matter when deciding where the insulation boundary belongs.

Describe the goal clearly

Explain whether the project is part of a renovation, an attic conversion or an insulation upgrade. That context is more useful than requesting a product without describing the assembly.
