Record the existing conditions
Photograph the entry, floor or ground surface, perimeter, floor framing and current insulation. Mention pipes, ducts, wiring, stored materials and any locations that are difficult to reach.
Do not cover visible problems
Leaks, standing water, damp materials, pests or damaged framing need appropriate attention. Insulation planning should follow an understanding of how the space manages ground moisture, outside air and indoor air.
Clarify the insulation boundary
Depending on the building plan, work may focus on the floor above, perimeter areas or another defined assembly. A site-specific review is necessary before selecting the scope.
