Understand what is already there
Existing insulation, finished surfaces, previous renovations and moisture history influence the options. Photos and selective openings can be more useful than assumptions about concealed construction.
Set the sequence
Plan repairs and electrical or mechanical changes before insulation where the scope requires it. Also identify which finishes need protection and how crews and equipment can reach the work area.
Compare options by assembly
An attic roofline, crawlspace rim and opened exterior wall are different conditions. Review each area on its own and connect the details at transitions so the overall plan is coherent.
